Good News! Rescheduling of 2020 National Specialty

Friday, September 18th through Tuesday, September 22nd (subject to AKC approval)

We are pleased to inform the membership that we have worked with the host hotel and the superintendent to quickly reschedule the 2020 National Specialty from Friday, September 18th through Tuesday, September 22nd (subject to AKC approval).

Kudos to Marianne Smart and Cindy Stone for their quick action on the rescheduling of the National Specialty.

These dates proceed the Wine Country shows on Thursday, September 24th through Sunday, September 27th. The tentative schedule (subject to change) may be viewed here or downloaded here

The Niagara Falls area offers many attractions and great shopping. Our judges will enjoy evaluating your Chow Chow entries. And, best of all, your CCCI show committee is devoted to making this Specialty the most memorable ever!

Rooms are $139.00 a night, with reservation cutoff 3/18/20. $50.00 non-refundable one-time pet fee.

Room assignments will be made directly with the Radisson Niagara Falls-Grand Island, NY  by calling this number 716-773-1111.  Please request the group rate for Chow National Specialty. There will also be a dedicated group reservation website created by the hotel.

Note:  By our contract with the hotel the following will apply:

    • All dogs must be crated when you are not in the room
    • $50.00 non-refundable dog fee
  • There will be a potable tub and table with ez up, etc outside of grooming room on deck

Hotel is approximately 15-20 minutes from downtown Niagara Falls, The Buffalo airport is closest with Niagara Falls (smaller) airport too. Car rental companies that are located at the Buffalo Airport include: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz and Thrifty.

You may want to check with your airlines for flying dogs to Toronto. That airport approximate 2 - 2.5 hours away. Rochester Airport is approximately 1-1.5 hours away.

All are pet friendly and range from $105 and under Canadian funds.

You will need to apply for an ERN (event registry number) thru CKC if entering shows in Canada (see below), or you can pay a listed fee at time of entry. You would need to apply within 30 days if you win, or you will lose your points! If applying for ERN it could take up to 2-3 weeks to get that number to use when entering your dog.

They plan to have 2 shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with their specialty on Saturday and the Canadian National Specialty on Sunday. There are lots of attractions, helicopter rides and places to eat including The Skylon Tower revolving restaurant 775 feet above Niagara Falls with  an observation deck of a 360 degree view of the entire city and the falls, along with The Seneca Casino. The Rainbow bridge is in downtown Niagara Falls.

To go over to Canada. Make sure to bring your passport!!! Plus, Rabies certificates are needed for your dogs!

Make sure to enter early as there are 6 shows in 3 days and shows are limited. Also make sure you get an Events Registry Number with CKC at 855-364-7252 or 416-675-5511 200 Ronson Dr. Etobicoke, Ont. M9W 5Z9, for your dog. You can do this, as if you win, you will need this number for your points should you win or you can pay an entry fee when putting your entry in. You can also go online to apply for the Events Registry Number.   

A Passport is also needed for everyone going over the Canadian border. 

Together we can make our 2020 Niagara Falls, NY National Specialty one for the ages May 1-3, 2020 in Thorold ON in Conjunction with the Seaway Kennel Club show
