Health Study
Dr. Court of Washington State University is wanting to look into the Chow breed to see if he can identify it as one that is shown to carry the MDR1 genetic mutation, puttng them at higher risks with the use of specific drugs, particularly those used for sedation.  He is also wanting to check for the genetic mutation thought to be involved in causing reactions resulting in Malignant Hyperthermia.  Cheek swabs will be collected and the DNA tested at no cost to the individual or the club, with results given directly to the owners.  All information is kept strictly conidential!
