2020 CCCI National Specialty and associated Specialties Postponed
After careful deliberation at tonight’s teleconference meeting, the CCCI Board of Directors has elected to postpone our National Specialty and the 3 associated regional specialties to the fall of 2020. The Board did not make this decision lightly and considered all options including moving forward with the April show, rescheduling the Specialty to the fall or cancelling the Specialty for 2020. Before deciding the Board took into account the many financial, legal and health implications from the COVID-19 outbreak and concluded that the health and safety of our members is of the utmost importance.
This decision was not easy to make but foremost is the health and safety of our members as a good portion of our membership falls into the high-risk category for COVID-19 and we believe this is the best outcome for the CCCI. We know that many members have already made travel arrangements and have taken vacation days to attend the National Specialty at the end of April and the last thing the Board wants is to put any of our members at risk.
The Board also agreed to direct the superintendent to refund entry fees that have already been paid and also to refund those that have made dinner reservations, ordered pre-paid catalogs and other items at the members request.
We will immediately begin working with the AKC, the host hotel and the superintendent to see what it will take to reschedule our National Specialty for the fall. We hope to be able to announce the specifics of the fall specialty in the next few weeks.
As soon as we have any information, we will immediately inform the membership.
Please stay safe and thank you for your understanding.
David Cook, CCCI President
